When You're Tired of Eating Pizza in Chicago

Chi Town has been on our foodie city bucket list for yearssssssss and we finally had the chance to visit in 2019. Of course when you go to Chicago, deep dish pizza lives rent free in your head, but there are so many other foods the city does well. We still only scratched the surface of the Chicago food scene during our first visit, but here's a run down of the non pizza spots we tried and loved.

Portillo's- Multiple Locations

Before we went on our trip some of our friends from Chicago made sure to give us the full explanation of why Portillo's is a must visit when you're in town. Every city has that one food spot that pretty much everyone can agree is a representation of their city's culture and it seems like Portillo's is that spot for Chicago. People talk a lot about Chicago's pizza, but their hot dogs and Italian Beef Sandwiches are equally famous. At Portillo's you can get both at various location around the city. At first we were scared that it would be all hype, but they actually lived up to it. The Italian Beef Sandwich had great flavor and the many ingredients on the hot dog actually played well together. Plus, the location on Clark and Ontario is the perfect place to get your "Welcome to Chicago" pictures for the gram.
